Women's lacrosse pushes past Pride, 14-3

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Haverford College women's lacrosse team defeated Widener University, 14-3, Saturday afternoon in the Tri-Co Invitational held at Swarthmore College's Clothier Field.

Josie Ferri, Kayleigh Herrick-Reynolds and Perrin Downing all scored three goals for Haverford (3-0) while Nora Proops added two. Alexa Pesce handed out two assists in the victory.

Jackie Elliott scored twice for Widener (1-2) and Calina Walz added another. Mellany Broomall handed out a pair of assists.

Kenny Likes and Downing got the Fords on the board early on before Walz scored for Widener. From that point on Haverford went on to score seven goals before the end of the half and two more early in the second to make it nine unanswered goals.

Leah Hammerschlag picked up her third win of the season between the pipes for Haverford, making two saves and allowing just one goal. Siobhan Neitzel made five stops in the second half. Linda Salcedo made two saves in the first half for the Pride while Shelley O'Neil had three.

The Fords return home Tuesday to host Cabrini College Tuesday at 4 p.m.
