HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team kicked-off its Centennial Conference schedule with an 8-1 victory over visiting Ursinus College on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
Haverford (2-2, 1-0 CC) swept through doubles play then won at the Nos. 1-5 spots in singles. Four of the five singles victories came in straight sets.
After losing the first set at No. 5 singles, Fumiko Shogase stormed back to take the second set, 7-5, and won the tiebreaker, 15-13. Jaclyn Porter's win at the No. 5 spot clinched the victory.
The Fords return to action Tuesday when they travel to nearby Bryn Mawr College for a 4 p.m. match.
