Von Howard-Battiste

The Haverford College Department of Athletics announced the hiring of Von Howard-Battiste as the new Athletic Facilities and Game Day Operations Manager in December of 2025.

Howard-Battiste comes to Haverford following his tenure as Front Office Assistant Manager at A.K.A. Hotel & Residencies in University City, Philadelphia.

"Working in athletic facilities and game day operations is more than managing buildings and events. For me, it's a chance to pour into the next generation of student-athletes. Every practice we help prepare and every game we bring to life represents another opportunity to support their growth, build their confidence, and create moments they'll carry long after graduation. I'm genuinely grateful to play even a small role in shaping the environment where they can chase big goals, learn hard lessons, and make memories that last. Getting to do this work at Haverford feels like an incredible privilege," Howard-Battiste said.

"As a former collegiate basketball player, I know firsthand how much a supportive community can impact both your athletic journey and who you become as a person. Being able to give that back—and contribute to a space that lifted me up in my own playing days—means a lot. This role isn't just a job to me; it's an opportunity to serve, connect, and make a meaningful difference every single day."

In his role, Howard-Battiste will be responsible for the oversight and daily operation of all Haverford College athletic facilities, including maintenance and scheduling. He will also manage all aspects of game day operations, including hiring and supervising student workers, coordinating with visiting teams and officials before and during events, and addressing crowd management needs.

Howard-Battiste has significant experience in collegiate athletics, having served as Manager of Equipment Operations at Wesley College in Dover, Delaware, from 2016 to 2021. In that role, he collaborated with coaches and administrators to oversee team practices, locker rooms, and arena equipment rooms.

He was responsible for maintaining equipment budgets, managing inventories for multiple sports through inventory system software, and coordinating laundry and set-up operations. Additionally, he worked with support staff to ensure a professional atmosphere for teams and officials at competition sites.

Beyond his athletic experience, Howard-Battiste brings extensive expertise in facility operations and personnel supervision within the hospitality industry. He has managed staff across multiple departments, supported administrative functions such as scheduling and payroll, and helped ensure smooth day-to-day operations. His prior hotel roles also included oversight of guest services and safety.

A Philadelphia native, Howard-Battiste is a two-time graduate of Wesley College, where he played for the Wolverines mens' basketball team. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Sports Administration in 2014 and completed his Master of Science in Sports Administration in 2016.
