Curran McCauley leads communications for Haverford College’s 23 varsity programs as Director of Athletic Communications, overseeing media relations, digital strategy, storytelling and live broadcast operations. He joined Haverford as Assistant Director of Sports Information in June 2016, was promoted to Director of Sports Information in September 2021 and assumed his current title in July 2023.
At Haverford, McCauley directs the athletics department’s website, social media channels and multimedia coverage, working across campus to elevate the visibility of student-athletes and their accomplishments. He led the department’s website transition from PrestoSports to SIDEARM Sports and launched the Haverford Athletics Annual Report in collaboration with Institutional Advancement. He also manages and mentors a student staff of more than 30, providing training and professional development opportunities. Former student workers have gone on to positions with organizations including the Brooklyn Nets, the University of South Florida and Rutgers–Newark.
McCauley serves on the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Region II Selection Committee as a Division III representative. He is also a member of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s Division III weekly awards committee, a D3baseball.com Top 25 and Team of the Week voter, and the softball Academic All-Area coordinator for the Philadelphia Sports Information Directors Association. He participated in the 2024–25 College Sports Communicators Inclusion Fellowship and was selected as an administrative participant in the 2024 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum.
Beyond Haverford, McCauley has supported media operations at major international and national sporting events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in Philadelphia and Super Bowl 50 in the San Francisco Bay Area. His NCAA championship experience spans basketball, lacrosse, wrestling and rowing. He served as a press conference moderator at the 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Wrestling Championships and a photo workroom coordinator for NCAA March Madness in Philadelphia, and has supported two Ivy League Basketball Tournaments.
A Washington, D.C., native, McCauley joined Haverford after three years as a media relations assistant at his alma mater, the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. He served as the primary communications contact for six varsity programs, helped develop the athletics department’s first comprehensive social media strategy and provided digital audience analysis to senior staff. He also served as the primary statistician for men’s and women’s basketball and women’s volleyball, and coordinated media efforts for the 2014 NorPac Field Hockey Championships and the 2015 Stockton Challenger professional women’s tennis tournament.
McCauley’s additional experience includes social media coverage of Pacific men’s water polo during the 2013 NCAA championship game, and four years as a contributing writer for USA Today’s College Basketball Preview Magazine, covering the West Coast and Mountain West conferences.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management and a master’s degree in intercollegiate sport and campus recreation administration from Pacific. He resides in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, and is a devoted San Francisco Giants fan.
