Andre Gibbs was named the head coach of the Haverford College women's basketball program in July 2026 and will begin his tenure with the Fords on August 3, 2026.
Gibbs arrives at Haverford after three seasons on the coaching staff at the University of Pennsylvania. He joined the Quakers as an assistant coach in August 2023 before being promoted to assistant recruiting coordinator ahead of the 2025-26 season.
During his time at Penn, Gibbs helped guide the Quakers to consecutive Ivy League Tournament appearances while working with some of the conference's top student-athletes. In 2025-26, Penn posted a 17-10 overall record as Gibbs played an integral role in the development of second-team All-Ivy and first-team All-Big 5 forward Katie Collins, along with honorable mention All-Ivy guard Mataya Gayle, who eclipsed the 1,000-point milestone during the season. Throughout his tenure, he coached multiple All-Ivy selections, including Jordan Obi, Stina Almqvist, Gayle and Collins, while Gayle and Collins each earned Ivy League Rookie of the Year honors in consecutive seasons.
Before arriving at Penn, Gibbs spent the 2022-23 season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Utah State. There, he assisted with all facets of the program, including recruiting, player development and game preparation.
Prior to Utah State, Gibbs served two seasons as an assistant coach at Queens University of Charlotte. During his time with the Royals, he helped mentor Kalaya Hall to All-South Atlantic Conference honors in 2021-22 and Amari Davis to South Atlantic Conference All-Freshman Team recognition in 2020-21.
Gibbs began his collegiate coaching career in the Centennial Conference as a volunteer assistant coach at Bryn Mawr College. While with the Owls, he contributed to player development, opponent scouting and the day-to-day operations of the program, gaining valuable experience within the Bi-Co community before moving to the Division I level.
A Delaware native, Gibbs played collegiately at Philadelphia University (now Thomas Jefferson University) under Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame coach Herb Magee. A four-year standout for the Rams, he finished his career with 1,400 points and 350 assists while helping the program compile 91 victories and capture two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championships. Individually, he earned Freshman All-America honors and was named the CACC Rookie of the Year during the 2012-13 season.
