Abbey Finkill joined the Haverford College women’s basketball program as an assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Finkill comes to Haverford after previously serving as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Arcadia University during the 2023-24 season. With the Knights, she assisted with daily practices, skill development, conditioning and game-day preparation while also contributing to the program’s recruiting efforts.
A former collegiate basketball player at Arcadia, Finkill served as a team captain during the 2022-23 season. At the conclusion of her senior year, she received Arcadia’s Merit Award, presented annually to student-athletes who demonstrate outstanding attitude, work ethic, leadership, teamwork and sportsmanship.
During her time at Arcadia, Finkill also co-founded the university’s chapter of The Hidden Opponent, a student-athlete mental health advocacy organization, and served as its vice president from 2020 to 2023. In that role, she helped organize an annual 5K fundraiser, mental health awareness games and a campus-wide mental health awareness week while collaborating with other student organizations and university administrators. The organization raised approximately $4,000 through its initiatives.
Finkill was also the recipient of the Eric Scott McKee Student Travel Award in 2025, an honor presented annually to a student in recognition of a future scholar who presented research at a national meeting.
Finkill graduated from Arcadia in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in biology before earning her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the university in 2025.
