Brett Cohen truly defines what it means to be a Haverford
student-athlete. Not only is he a two-sport athlete and a
math major, but he also serves on the board of several clubs around
campus.
Brett co-founded the Sports Analytics club, and continues to
serve on the board of the Bi-Co Finance club and Dining Services
Student Consulting. He also participated in customs as an HCO
his sophomore year. Without question, Brett is about as
well-rounded a community member as you could find at Haverford.
Though Brett has his hands in many baskets that doesn’t
prevent him from excelling on the basketball court or the baseball
field. Brett finished his basketball career with nearly 1,200
points and over 750 rebounds, entering him into an exclusive club
of Haverford basketball elite. Brett also was a major
contributor to the baseball team’s first Centennial
Conference championship in 2012.
When asked about the sum of his experiences, Brett is quick to
be modest. “The most challenging part of this experience has
been balancing my two sports, especially when they overlap, [but] I
owe a lot of that success to my coaches and professors who have
been supportive of all my activities,” says Brett.
Brett also gives a lot of credit to his teammates, both past and
present. “I’ve made great friendships among my
teammates that will last long after graduation, [and] I’ve
had a lot of influence from alumni who played here and know about
the Haverford student-athlete experience.” As a
teammate of Brett’s myself, I can say without a doubt that
others feel the same about him, and he has passed on much of his
invaluable knowledge to younger players and friends who are
eternally grateful.
In the classroom, Brett is a math major and economics minor
interested in finance and sports analytics. Over the past
summer he worked at Veritable L.P., an investment advisor in
Newtown Square, PA. Brett has accepted an offer from
Veritable to work there next year as a Research Analyst.
SAAC is the College’s student-athlete advisory committee
