Junior field hockey player Megan
Holt has been named Haverford Featured Athlete for her
contributions on and off the field hockey turf. Holt is an integral
part of the nationally-ranked field hockey team. Through her sheer
determination and leadership, she has helped to lead the Fords to a
fantastic start and has helped the team garner national
recognition.
“Megan Holt has shown a high level of dedication to the
sport and her team,” said head field hockey coach Jackie Cox.
“Holt’s consistent effort and leadership has given her
the ability to play to her potential and help the team in every
game.” As team captain, Holt has been a key contributor this
year for the Fords as she has started every game contributing five
goals, the second most on the team. Moreover, two of her five goals
have been game-winning goals. Holt’s teammates recognize her
as an indispensable leader as the team depends on both her
encouraging words and elite play in every game and practice.
Holt’s dedication, determination, and desire have truly
enabled her to become the athlete she is today. Head strength and
conditioning Cory Walts only has praises for Holt: “Megan
Holt is a pure joy to work with every day. She is a model of
consistency and is truly excited to get to work in each workout.
She always has a smile on, puts in tremendous effort, and as a
result, has seen great improvements in her athleticism over the
last three years. To sum it up, Meg Holt is what I'm looking for in
our athletes.”
Off the field, Holt is a physics major with a minor in education
and plans to pursue a career in either engineering or education.
She is a peer tutor in math and physics and works in the GIAC.
Moreover, next semester Holt is planning on broadening her horizons
and will be studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, where she plans
to conduct independent research on the educational system there
which bolsters a 99-percent literacy rate amongst citizens and an
unparalleled family choice system.
