HAVERFORD, Pa. - On the morning of Saturday, February 21, the Haverford College men's basketball program welcomed alumni back to campus for its annual pick-up game. The returning Fords later stayed to cheer on the varsity squad as it claimed the Hood Trophy with a convincing conference rivalry victory over Swarthmore.
The day also gave the Fords a chance to present the annual recipients of the Mike Mucci Award. Former head coach Mike Mucci won 185 games during his time as head coach of the Fords. He started coaching the team during the 1995-96 season up until his retirement at the end of the 2016-17 campaign. He retired as the all-time winningest coach in program history. The award is to be given to an upperclass member of the team who consistently displays high character, sportsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to the values of the program, athletic department, and broader Haverford community. This year the award went to junior Gaven Marr.
