Women's Track & Field Takes Home Fifth Place at CC Championships

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Haverford College women's track & field team concluded a strong showing at the Centennial Conference Championships on Sunday afternoon at Ursinus College, earning fifth place overall with 47 total points. The final day was highlighted by standout performances including a silver medal in the 800 meters, and bronze medals in both the 400 meters and the 4x400 meter relay.

Johns Hopkins captured the 2025 Centennial Conference title with a dominant 338.5 points. Dickinson followed in second with 125.5 points, while Swarthmore rounded out the top three with 109 points.

The 4x100 relay team of Nadine Tang, Adriana Cruz-Soto, Abby Ryan, and Grace Hannigan kicked off the final day of the Centennial Conference Championships, earning three points with a sixth-place finish in 51.27.

Sarah Wilcher and Summer Ryan participated in the shot put, with Wilcher earning sixth by virtue of an 11.34 meter (37 feet, 2.5 inches) toss, while Ryan took home 13th with a distance thrown of 10.36 meters. 

Haverford had two representatives in the 1500 meters, as rookie Maia Poremba led the Fords with a 23rd place finish, running to a personal best time of 4:58.76. Behind Poremba was Savannah Shaw, who picked up 27th place with a time of 5:03.81.

Olivia D'Aulerio got Haverford on the board in the 400 meters, racing to a third-place finish in 57.92. Her strong performance earned six points in the team standings.

Anastasia Jaycobs delivered a standout performance in the 800 meters, claiming the silver medal with a time of 2:17.37. The sophomore's finish added eight points to the Fords' total in the Centennial Conference standings.

The 400 meter hurdles saw senior Rachel November finish in eighth place with a time of 1:09.79. 

In the javelin throw, Summer Ryan earned fifth place with a personal-best mark of 30.64 meters (100 feet, 6 inches), adding four points to the Fords' total. The throw extends her hold on 10th all-time in Haverford history, surpassing her previous best of 30.37 meters (99 feet, 8 inches).

Dalia Smid was the lone competitor for Haverford in the 5000 meters, as the rookie ran to a 22nd place finish with a time of 21:24.26. 

Grace Hannigan earned seventh place in the triple jump, recording a mark of 10.58 meters (34 feet, 8.50 inches) to secure two points for the Fords in the team standings.

To cap off the day, fans at Patterson Field were treated to a thrilling 4x400 meter relay, as Johns Hopkins broke the Centennial Conference meet record with a time of 3:49.28. The Fords, however, delivered a standout performance of their own, as Dominique La Grenade, Adriana Cruz-Soto, Anastasia Jaycobs, and Olivia D'Aulerio combined for an exhilarating third-place finish. Their time of 4:03.84 earned Haverford the bronze medal and valuable points in the team standings.

Next up for the Haverford women's Track & Field team, is the Widener Final Qualifying Meet in Chester, Pa. on Monday, May 12, at 3:30 p.m. This will be the last opportunity for the Fords to qualify for the NCAA Championships, scheduled for May 22-24 in Geneva, Ohio. The top 20 athletes in individual events and the top 12 relay teams will be selected to compete at the NCAA Championships.
