HAVERFORD, Pa. – In its intercollegiate opener on Saturday at Cope Field, Haverford Cricket secured a comfortable win over Columbia by seven wickets. Columbia batted first and scored 146 runs in the allotted 25 overs. Amresh Shetty, Apul Gupta, and Priyesh Bhishnurkar were the top scorers with 26, 33, and 28 runs, respectively.
Sanil Kagalwala, Nihaal Kochar, and Ishpuneet Singh bowled well and took one wicket each. Rustom Dubash also bowled impressively, taking two wickets for just 13 runs.
In reply, Haverford scored 147 for three wickets in 19.3 overs. Mohanish Bajaj played a very responsible innings, finishing with a fine 68 not out. Agastya Singh and Sidd Phatak also contributed with 34 and 16 runs, respectively.
Bajaj was named Man of the Match for Saturday.
Haverford returns to action on Saturday, April 12, against Drexel at Cope Field (12 p.m.)
