Women's Fencing Competes at NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional

MADISON, N.J. – The Haverford College women's fencing team competed at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional Championships at Drew University on Saturday, with action hitting the strips at the Simon Forum bright and early. Representing the Fords was the duo of Nina Hamilton and Nina Chafee in epee, along with Sophie Gardiner in foil.

Gardiner placed 22nd overall, improving 11 places on her 33rd-place finish from last season. She notched four wins in her opening pool to advance to the second round, where she secured a victory over Penn State's Thea Fernandes before falling short of the regional final.

In epee, Hamilton finished 44th, while Chaffee placed 48th. Hamilton recorded wins over NJIT's Gala Krsmanovic and Princeton's Charlotte Lattanzio in first round pool play, while Chafee claimed a victory against Drew's Amira Mutakabbir.

With Gardiner having completed her distinguished Haverford fencing career, Chafee and Hamilton will return poised for their senior seasons in 2025-26, aiming to build on a strong junior campaign.
